Last week Sirius Hits 1 interviewed Ace Young of American Idol Season 5, he summed up the entire audition of AI in about 5 minutes. I couldn't believe what he had to say -
The entire process takes a couple days. The stadium of 10,000 try out in groups of 4 in front of producers, one person from those four make it through to day 2. At the end of the day, roughly 10,000 people are cut down to around 300.
Okay, so that's not so surprising. Did you actually think thousands of people actually went in to see Paula, Randy and Simon? ...moving on....
Day 2 - Individually, the lucky contestants that made it through end up singing for Executive Producers. The ones that make it past that get to breathe easy - then they get to see the 3 judges.
My problem with all of that...is why do they have such horrible singers on the final day? I know it's all for show, but you would think that they would have several more great singers than bad ones. It's all rather annoying to me, but I guess you gotta do certain things in order for people to actually watch.
...I was never a huge fan of the audition process. And now that I know what each person goes through...my thoughts don't really change. But...when someone horrible sings and they think they are the worlds greatest...it's no wonder - - because hello! they made it through 3 days of auditions! - - annoying - -
